OtterBox Signs Manning as Spokesperson

OtterBox welcomed former football quarterback Peyton Manning as the newest member of the Otter team. Manning will serve as spokesman for the company, debuting in an ad series that begins airing today on ESPN.

Manning takes over the starting position from long-time OtterBox mascot Ollie the Otter. Ollie, who has had no professional sports experience, will serve as second string spokesotter. Ollie refused to comment on the transition, but his apprehension is self-evident in the series featuring the rivalry between the two.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know the OtterBox team, as it’s clear they are a company that values their employees,” said Manning. “The ad series does a great job in conveying the light-hearted nature of the team, and I’m up for the challenge of stepping into Ollie’s shoes.”

The ad series follows the rivalry as Manning is introduced to the OtterBox family. The 30-second spots were filmed at OtterBox facilities in Fort Collins, Colo., and feature actual OtterBox employees, including company founder Curt Richardson (playing himself). The spots were developed in collaboration with MAKE Films.

Tune in to ESPN during SportsCenter between Sept. 16 and Oct. 31 to catch the ad series.
