OIA Plans ‘Vote the Outdoors’ Movement

The 2018 midterm elections are nearly here and Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) is urging every American who loves the outdoors and outdoor industry businesses to create a social media storm starting on October 15 and continuing until the November election, amplifying OIA’s social media and creating their own after reviewing OIA’s 2018 Voters Guide. The goal is to promote the election of outdoorists to Congress and governorships across the country.

OIA is asking their members, their brands and customers to amplify, via social media on October 15, messages similar to this one:

No matter your political stripes, the outdoors brings us together. Pledge to #VoteTheOutdoors this November, and get educated + empowered with @OIA’s Voters Guide: http://oia.outdoorindustry.org/e/51282/2xQkZNF/b48jc2/747591137

You can download OIA’s Social Media Toolkit here, including graphics and additional sample posts.

All year, OIA has been building toward the midterm elections — at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, they launched their Vote the Outdoors campaign that included a first-ever Congressional Scorecard and now they have a new Voters Guide, released on October 1, with information on key races and ballot initiatives across the country. OIA has made endorsements of congressional and gubernatorial candidates who are champions of the outdoors and outdoor recreation economy across the country. These endorsements and OIA’s recommendations on other outdoor related initiatives are included as a voter’s resource in the Voters Guide.
