OGB Provides Get in Gear Fest Information

Outdoor Gear Builders, the first outdoor industry association of its kind, celebrates nine years of collaborating to create exceptional outdoor gear and experiences in Western North Carolina, with its Get in Gear Fest, April 23, at Camp Rockmont (pictured) in Black Mountain.

The association’s event returns with a new interactive format. Get in Gear Fest’s location will allow attendees to demonstrate gear on the trail and water, meet representatives and makers from more than 60 outdoor companies, purchase gear on-site, and be a part of the local outdoor industry community.

A family-friendly event, the Get in Gear Fest will have live music, food trucks, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Sponsors include Prestige Subaru, Camp Rockmont, Sedera, Van Winkle Law Firm, and Asheville’s first brewery, Highland Brewing.

Also new for this year, Get in Gear Fest attendees who pre-register will be entered into a giveaway for a chance to win gear from participating vendors.

Camp Rockmont, situated on hundreds of acres of pristine land in Black Mountain, is on the site of the historic Black Mountain College that was open in the 1940s. With miles of trails, a centrally located lake for paddling, and open meadows, the area is ideal for the return of the annual Get in Gear Fest, allowing attendees to demo products from local outdoor gear builders and retailers for free.

For the first time, the public will be able to take advantage of the facility’s adventure offerings with an optional $15 Adventure Pass, which includes a zipline ride, climbing wall, archery range, waterfront ropes course, gully washer water slide, and canoe & SUP paddling.

Visitors also will have an opportunity to make a weekend of the Get in Gear Fest by renting one of Camp Rockmont’s 44 cabins Friday through Sunday, which includes an exclusive weekend dining plan and a family adventure pass. Camping also is available onsite.

The festival will follow CDC-recommended COVID-19 protocols for everyone’s safety and continue to monitor the situation to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for attendees, vendors and staff.
