NC Manufacturing Extension Partnership Honors Nester Hosiery

Nester Hosiery, a U.S. manufacturer of performance merino wool socks and parent company of the Farm to Feet sock brand, has been recognized by North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NCMEP) with a 2022 Manufacturing Leadership Award for Sustainable Manufacturing.
The NCMEP award program recognizes manufacturers for their commitment to the North Carolina manufacturing sector, as proven by outstanding performance in the areas of manufacturing excellence, sustainable manufacturing, innovation, workforce development and economic development/developing markets.
“Sustainability is one of Nester Hosiery’s core tenants and we continually strive to improve our processes and systems to be the best global citizen we can be,” said Anna Draughn, director of Merchandising at Nester Hosiery.
In 2020, Nester Hosiery used 393,229 less kWh than it did in 2019 thanks to energy reduction programs including an air leak detection program with its local community college on
Along with reducing its plastic and cardboard usage, Nester has an internal recycling program. Additionally, it encourages employees to bring recyclable materials from home if they do not have access to curbside recycling. In 2020 Nester Hosiery diverted 212.22 tons of recyclable materials from the landfill.
Nester Hosiery was presented the 2022 Manufacturing Leadership Award at an awards ceremony at MFGCON in Durham, N.C. MFGCON is North Carolina’s premier manufacturing conference that features the most up-to-date and relevant topics from North Carolina’s most influential manufacturing thought leaders.
