Mountain Hardwear Recruits Army of Ambassadors

Mountain Hardwear has kicked off recruiting this week for its Finding Winter Athlete team, a community of hand-picked outdoor enthusiasts ready to share their stoke for winter and their connection with Mountain Hardwear products. The initiative is an evolution of a pilot program run last winter in which the company seeded products to engaged outdoor enthusiasts, who shared their outdoor and Mountain Hardwear product experiences on social media and in their local communities.

According to the company, 50 outdoor enthusiasts will be selected to join the Mountain Hardwear family as ambassadors. They’ll receive a kit of Mountain Hardwear winter products, tools to create content and share that content online, access to special local events and regular communications from Mountain Hardwear staff including challenges and prompts to engage in winter outdoor activities.

“We think it’s important to augment the efforts of our professional brand athletes with inspired outdoor enthusiasts at every level of outdoor experience,” said Chris Harges, director of global marketing for Mountain Hardwear. “We believe anyone can be an outdoor athlete, from a seasoned alpinist on an 8,000 meter peak to a hiker aiming one ridge farther than they’ve ever gone before. If you’ve got the drive to get outside and experience the emotional satisfaction of outdoor sports, you’re a candidate for our team.”

Participants will be recruited though social media, an online display advertising campaign, dealer participation and staff recommendations and can apply on the brand’s Facebook page and blog through Oct. 31.
