Outdoor clothing and equipment brand Montane announced that it attained bluesign system partner status, a move in its journey to reduce environmental impact and increase transparency.
The accreditation is awarded to organizations that meet strict safety and environmental requirements. Montane is committed to using only bluesign-approved fabrics, trims and accessories, which are free from potentially hazardous chemicals. The partnership also provides Montane with access to a database of suppliers to support this aim.
The move is a step in Montane’s ongoing environmental commitment and reinforces its “Further. Forever.” ethos, which incorporates ethical trading and a commitment to making responsible choices that reduce the brand’s environmental impact, while striving to find the best possible technical solutions that balance compliance, weight, durability and performance. Montane will now be able to identify which fabrics and trims are bluesign-approved, while the brand also works to highlight products that qualify as bluesign products, to provide further clarity on an item’s sourcing background.

The development comes after Montane recently published its first business Impact Report, which highlights the brand’s 2023 initiatives that drive a positive impact across three key areas; people, product, and planet, and outlines the evolving nature of the business over three decades in the outdoor industry while presenting plans toward a continued responsible future.
