Mammut Up for Sale

Mammut Sports Group AG, which has been a part of Swiss holding company Conzzeta AG since 1982, recently announced that Conzzeta would be pivoting its focus to one specific brand in the portfolio and selling its other brands, including Mammut.

Beginning in 2020, Conzzeta will be focusing its resources and strategic goals toward its global sheet metal construction company, Bystronic, and as a result Mammut — along with Schmid Rhyner and FoamPartner — would no longer receive the resources and support they require, and will be entering into sales discussions for those brands. Mammut’s sale is specifically directed toward internationalizing the brand that will, under a new owner, advance its development prospects, particularly when it comes to market penetration.

“Our team here in the North American region has worked particularly hard to represent the highly respected and premium positioned brand that has significant awareness in the European market,” managing director of Mammut North America, Kris Kuster said. “We are encouraged that this sale will help strategically bolster and impactfully increase Mammut’s presence in our region, and continue the commitment to heritage, innovation, and safety that Mammut is so well known for.”

Mammut’s sales and profits increased significantly from 2016 to 2018, with expected projections to increase again for 2019, showcasing an exciting time and possibility for Mammut’s potential buyer to realize the brand’s growth opportunity and prime positioning for expansion.
