Mabi Swimwear Collaborates with Indigenous Activist

Using education as a weapon, Yarikazu Xipaya attends the final year of Law School in Belém, a city 18 hours away by bus from her village. She studies to promote the development of her village, reverse environmental and political decisions, preserve ancestral traditions, and defend humanitarian and ecological causes. She paints with sustainable materials to raise funds to complete her studies and to form the Association for the Defense of indigenous peoples for a better world that respects nature and the rights of these peoples

MABI Swimwear brand, known for its slogan “SUSTAINABLE IS SEXY,” launches a limited collection of hand-painted swimsuits for this summer in collaboration with the indigenous activist.

Mabi Swimwear swimsuits are revealed as a canvas where indigenous painting art contributes to the beauty of each unique piece and to the brand’s ongoing work to bring awareness to the protection of the Amazon Rainforest and its people. In this way, the brand gets the aesthetics of indigenous art into its products, approaching young audiences and trend-conscious consumers with exclusive pieces.

The limited edition YARIKAZU X MABI SWIMWEAR collection is another philanthropic undertaking by the brand known for its sustainability philosophy and love for nature. With its products inspired by the diverse beauty contained in and on Earth, MABI believes that fashion can be a force for good and can be used to raise awareness about environmental preservation.

In this collection, the total profit will go towards supporting Xipaya’s ability to continue her higher education at the law school, providing her with tools for her battle in a war fighting for the defense of the culture and preservation of the traditions of indigenous peoples and and Yanomami village.

At MABI Swimwear, it takes the matter into its own hands. With Amazon at the heart of its sustainable mission: partnering with indigenous peoples offers a socially responsible and high-leverage opportunity to address the major drivers that impact the Amazon Rainforest.
