Sunlight is focused by parabolic reflectors onto the vacuum tube that converts up to 80 percent of the sun’s rays into heat that builds to average cooking temperatures of 350°F or 177°C. Despite the high cooking temperatures, the exterior of the grill remains cool to the touch. The vacuum tube is an incredible insulator that keeps the food hot, regardless of wind or freezing cold.
The GoSun Sport-E also integrates a NASA-inspired heating element into the base of the cooking tray, needing no more than a small 12-volt battery to cook a full meal. The heating element is captured in stainless steel, allowing for an even distribution of heat within the vacuum tube oven. Due to the high efficiency of the solar oven, the Sport-E only consumes 80 watts of energy yet can cook everything from veggies to steak.
