Gear.com Announces Give-A-Buck Scholarship Program

Outdoor e-commerce site Gear.com announced its Give-A-Buck Scholarship Program. Gear.com will begin accepting applications for its first round of scholarship recipients on July 1 and select three scholarship recipients by September 30.

The scholarship complements its existing Give-A-Buck program, which helps more people, especially those who don’t have the means, get outside. On every purchase, Gear.com gives 20% back: 10% back to the customer for their next purchase, and 10% to someone of the customer’s choice.

“At Gear.com, we understand how formative time in the outdoors can be, and we want more people to get out there: the sooner, the better,” said Gear.com Global Marketing Lead Kameron Harper. “We wanted to help our customers connect—through the existing Give-A-Buck Program framework—to some rad, inspiring and deserving young people who want to spend more time outside. We can’t wait to hear their stories, help outfit their adventure and empower a Gear.com generation of explorers.”

Applicants must be between 13 and 23 years old, have a genuine passion for the outdoors and a desire to pay it forward to the next generation of adventure seekers. Gear.com will choose three finalists each quarter who will be featured on the Gear.com website and during checkout as a part of the Give-A-Buck Program.

Finalists can use donated funds from the Give-A-Buck Program to purchase gear on their wishlists. Each finalist is guaranteed a $500 gear credit provided by Gear.com, but there is no limit to the Give-A-Buck proceeds the finalists can collect throughout the quarter.

“We are so stoked on this scholarship program and hope it enables many people—for many years—to jumpstart their newly-found passion for the outdoors,“ said Gear.com Business Development Director Jonny Atencio.
