FDRA Recognizes Responsible Footwear Factories

The Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) has recognized six footwear factories with the special distinction as a Recognized Responsible Footwear Manufacturer for 2015 (list below). A committee of footwear sourcing executives across the industry determined the recipients of this designation based on those factories found to be the most compliant with FDRA’s Footwear Production Code of Conduct . This is the second set of recognized factories, the first being selected in November 2014.

The designations were given to factory owners and managers at a special reception in Dongguan, China on Tuesday. More than 100 factory owners and managers attended this special event where they welcomed the new class of responsible factories. FDRA also just hosted more than 125 factory managers at the 16th Annual Responsible Footwear Forum (RFF) in Dongguan to discuss changing sourcing dynamics in China, the importance of robust social compliance standards, and receive updates from key Guangdong government officials, said the group.

“Congratulations to the factories who received this recognition for their commitment to continuously improve factory conditions and standards,” said FDRA President Matt Priest.  “This is our second year of recognizing factories with this distinction, and the desire to join these prestigious ranks is growing. Factories around the world are educated on our code of conduct and we are starting to see an impact across the industry’s supply chain as a result. As this program continues we expect to see ongoing improvements at footwear factories worldwide.”
