Downlite Vice President Retires from 52-year Career

After more than half-a-century working in the home textile industry, Downlite’s Vice President, QA & Compliance Clive Wilkie has decided to retire. He has agreed to work through the transition period.

Clive began his career at Scapa Multi-National Industrial Fabric Group in the United Kingdom, 52 years ago. Later, he moved to Canada and then to the United States. He continued his career in Home Textiles at United Feather and Down, Pacific Coast Feather and for the last five years at Downlite.

Wilkie’s contributions to the industry are long and detailed.  His work, commitment to excellence and simple dedication in what he loved, is admired by all who know him.

“Clive has brought a level of professionalism to the home textiles industry that is matched by few and exceeded by none. Downlite is better from having him for the last five years, the industry better for having him for decades. We wish him a full and wonderful retirement. Personally, I want to thank Clive for the way he always conducted himself and for being an example to so many. I am lucky to have called him a colleague, luckier yet to call him a friend,” stated Joe Crawford, CEO.

Wilkie leaves with a complete and comprehensive process structure in place, enabling his successor, Tokkie Sharar, to continue advancing Downlite’s efforts in global quality assurance.
