CORDURA Launches New Wool Fabric Line

INVISTA’S CORDURA brand has added CORDURA Combat Wool fabric to its expansive list of durable fabrics. CORDURA Combat Wool is available in multiple merino wool and nylon 6,6 constructions including knits, baselayers, laminates, and double weaves from Chia Her, a midlayer knit fabric from Chang-Ho Fibre Corporation, sock styles from Xialu, as well as twill, canvas, ripstop, dobby and stretch woven constructions from Burlington Industries.

To celebrate the launch, the CORDURA brand is collaborating with notable lifestyle and urban designer Alex Valdman who has designed innovative apparel pieces featuring CORDURA Combat Wool in both a multi-purpose jacket and pant. A debut party for the CORDURA x Alex Valdman Collection will be held at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City, Utah, August 7th from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. at the CORDURA Brand Booth 39213.

“Our new CORDURA Combat Wool fabric collection combines the warmth and comfort of wool and the durability of nylon 6,6,” says Cindy McNaull, global CORDURA brand and marketing director. “These CORDURA Combat Wool fabrics are designed to help you combat life’s battles with fabrics that are perfect for the growing consumer need for fashionable yet functional apparel that can transition seamlessly from work to play and everything in between.”

Chia Her’s new collection will showcase both intimate blended knit and baselayer styles, as well as double weaves and laminate CORDURA Combat Wool fabrics that incorporate Merino wool next-of-skin and hard wearing yet stylishly durable CORDURA fabric on the outside.

Burlington Industries, a leading global textile company, has developed a full collection of innovative woven CORDURA Combat Woolfabrics that provide a significant performance advantage without sacrificing the natural aesthetic or insulation qualities of 100% Merino wool fabrics. According to independent lab testing, Burlington’s woven CORDURA Combat Wool fabrics provide twice the tensile strength, 1.4 times the tear strength, and more than 10 times the abrasion resistance of equivalent weight 100% Merino wool fabrics. Burlington has developed shirting, bottom, and jacket weight fabrics appropriate for a wide range of end-use applications.

Rounding out the collection are CORDURA Combat Wool socks made with an intimate blend of Merino wool and INVISTA T420 nylon 6,6 staple fiber from China mill, Xialu, as well as a midlayer 270gsm nylon 6,6/wool/elastane knit CORDURA Combat Wool fabric from Chang-Ho Fibre Corporation, Taiwan.
Appropriate for everyday lifestyle, outdoor, and adventure wear, the new CORDURA x Alex Valdman Collection features crossover pieces powered by CORDURA Combat Wool that embrace the growing consumer need for fashionable, functional apparel. His simple design silhouettes demonstrate the diversity of durable CORDURA Combat Wool fabrics and celebrate the versatility of today’s performance driven consumers.
