Marking its fourth store in and around the Twin City, Cabela’s Inc. said it plans to open an 85,000-square-foot store on a site adjacent to Tamarack Village Shopping Center in Woodbury in fall 2014. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2013, the Sidney, Neb.-based outdoors retailer said in a news release.
The store will have roughly 185 full- and part-time employees.
It will be significantly smaller than the Rogers and Owatonna stores, which are 185,000 square feet and 150,000 square feet, respectively. The East Grand Forks store is 60,000 square feet.
“Minnesota offers a tremendous array of outdoor pursuits and that has been highlighted by the commitment and loyalty of Cabela’s customers across the state,” said Cabela’s CEO Tommy Millner. “Cabela’s has had remarkable success in the East Grand Forks, Owatonna and Rogers locations, and we expect similar results in Woodbury.”
The tenants at the neighboring Tamarack Village Shopping Center include Home Depot, J.C. Penney, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Toys ‘R’ Us, Jo-Ann Fabric and Cub Foods. That center has a vacancy rate of less than 1 percent.
