Bajío Sunglasses Partners with Cool Effect for Trash to Treasure Campaign

Bajío, maker of blue-light filtering, sustainably-made, performance sunglasses. announced a new partner in its sustainability journey: Cool Effect. This globally recognized non-profit platform is reducing carbon pollution, through its Trash to Treasure initiative.

Trash to Treasure is a project that benefits the island of Mauritius and is designed to capture the methane being released from the island’s only landfill. The captured methane is used to supply the island with clean, renewable energy instead of importing dirty coal. Four of Bajío’s most popular bio-based frames are manufactured in Mauritius, a major factor in the eyewear brand’s decision to support Trash to Treasure.

Brokering Bajío’s partnership with Cool Effect is Rick Crawford of Emerger Strategies, whose goal is to see the fly fishing industry become the first carbon-neutral industry in the U.S. Emerger Strategies helps companies assess their carbon footprints, take steps to reduce them, and then to offset what is left.
