Anon, the maker of ski and snowboard helmets, goggles and accessories, has introduced the Winter ’21 helmet line equipped with WaveCel technology.
The Merak WaveCel and the Logan WaveCel helmets are the first snow sports models designed with this evolution in head protection technology, which Anon will have exclusive rights to in the snow sports industry for the season.
The Anon WaveCel helmets contain technology aimed at helping prevent snow-related head injuries. WaveCel is a collapsible cellular structure that lines the inside of the helmet, working like a crumple zone that helps absorb the force of an impact before it reaches a rider’s head.
To help protect the head and absorb the energy created by an impact, WaveCel goes through a three-step change in material structure. First, the cells flex to help reduce the initial frictional forces. Next, the cells crumple like a car bumper upon impact. Finally, WaveCel glides to help redirect energy away from the head.
“WaveCel is the first helmet technology to receive funding from the U.S. National Institute of Health,” says Mark Wakeling, Anon’s Global Business Unit Director. “When it comes to snow sports, safety is our number one priority.
In addition to WaveCel technology, the Merak WaveCel and Logan WaveCel helmets are loaded with additional premium comfort and fit features. These include but are not limited to an in-shell 360 BOA fit system, Fidlock buckle, and Polartec Power Grid fleece lining for added warmth and comfort. All Anon helmet models are compatible with Anon goggles and MFI facemasks.
