Amazon Joins SFIA’s Board of Directors

Just when you thought Amazon was distracted by the grocery business, we get reports that Nike is looking into selling directly through Amazon. Now The Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) announced that Amazon has joined the SFIA Board of Directors, to be represented by Fouzan Mansuri, Director and Category Leader for Sports & Fitness at Amazon (pictured).

The SFIA Board approved this interim appointment at its recent board meeting in Washington to address a Board vacancy, and Amazon will be included in the formal slate for election to a full three-year term during the annual SFIA election in fall 2017.

“We look forward to Amazon’s insight into how SFIA can be attuned to the changing needs and expectations of customers, SFIA member companies, and industry partners,” said Chris Clawson, SFIA Chairman of the Board.

“Sports & Fitness is a vibrant category for Amazon, as well as an integral part of connecting with customers,” said Fouzan Mansuri, Director and Category Leader for Sports & Fitness at Amazon. “We’re thrilled to join the SFIA Board of Directors, and are excited about the opportunities Amazon and SFIA will have in working together.”

“As one of the leading consumer-facing companies in the United States, Amazon brings an invaluable perspective about how our industry can grow a strong sports, fitness, and active lifestyle culture,” said Tom Cove, SFIA President and CEO. “We’re particularly happy to welcome Fouzan Mansuri, who comes with experience working in several high-level positions within Amazon.”
