ALPS Mountaineering Puts ‘Ultralight’ in Day Packing

ALPS Mountaineering, a manufacturer of performance-driven technical support gear for wilderness exploration, trekking and family camping, offers a super-light solution for short-duration hikers and day explorers who need to carry essential items on the trail but do not want to be encumbered by traditional, heavier daypacks.

For grab-and-go adventurers, ALPS Mountaineering has developed the Tempo 18, an ultralight drawstring pack. Constructed of 70D ripstop nylon, the Tempo 18 boasts a single interior compartment accessed through a drawstring top. This design is perfect for when you need to carry only a few items, such as a light jacket, rain gear, snacks and other trail essentials, without the need for multiple compartments and zippers found on conventional day packs.

This lightweight approach eliminates the need for bulky shoulder straps or waistbands that can hinder mobility. Instead, the Tempo 18 comes with lightweight yet fully adjustable 3D mesh shoulder straps that fit comfortably over the shoulders while promoting airflow to prevent sweat buildup and irritation. For added convenience, the Tempo 18 includes a mesh front stuff pocket for quick-access items, a mesh bottle pocket on each side, a top-mounted daisy chain and a grab handle.

The Tempo 18 weighs six ounces, has an 18-liter capacity and measures 9x6x18 inches with the drawstring closed. The available color is gray/black.
