Alpine Fit Achieves Climate Neutral Status, Allies with 1% For The Planet

Alpine Fit, an outdoor apparel company known for its adventure apparel made in the United States, announced its partnership with 1% For The Planet and its achievement of Climate Neutral certified status.

Alpine Fit’s kit of adventure-ready apparel and accessories is designed with sustainability, longevity and the environment in mind. From its recycled materials, and plastic-free packaging, to waste-reducing production methods and offering repairs.

These milestones and business practices reinforce Alpine Fit’s commitment to sustainability and climate change solutions.

With its alliance with 1% For The Planet, Alpine Fit pledges to donate one percent of all annual sales, to support nonprofit organizations focused on the environment.

“We are excited that 43 Alaskan nonprofits are environmental partners of 1% For The Planet. We can contribute locally as part of the national and global efforts to address climate change. With our encouragement Alaska Trails became a member ensuring they could be one of our recipients,” said Jen Loofbourrow, founding owner of Alpine Fit.

Additionally, 12 member businesses in Alaska are 1% For The Planet partners, including Alaska Sundog, Traverse Alaska, Create Sustenance, Chulengo Expeditions, Alaska Guide Collective, Alaska Alpine Adventures, Alaska Coastal Explorer, Kayak Adventures Worldwide, Seward Wilderness Collective, Alaska Glacial Essentials, and Out to Sea Expeditions.

Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet, said, “Our growing network of business members are doing vital work to increase giving and support on-the-ground action.”

Alpine Fit joins the movement of companies achieving the Climate Neutral Certified standard by measuring and compensating for its annual cradle-to-consumer greenhouse gas emissions, taking action on reduction plans and offsetting its brand footprint with eligible-verified credits. Alpine Fit is setting a path having a Climate Neutral Certified Company headquartered in Alaska. The milestone underlines Alpine Fit’s commitment to minimizing its ecological footprint and being part of the move toward a carbon-neutral future.

“Climate Neutral Certified companies are demonstrating immediate action on climate change is possible and essential,” said Austin Whitman, CEO of Climate Neutral. “Climate Neutral Certified brands have built a powerful movement that gives companies and consumers meaningful ways to act on climate — today. They are leading the way, taking immediate voluntary action to address their carbon emissions.”

Loofburrow added “At Alpine Fit we strive to act responsibly toward the environment in all of our business practices from thoughtful design to reduce waste in production, to plastic-free packaging solutions, using fabrics and materials that are from recycled or natural sources, properties like odor-resistance to reduce how often their garments need to be laundered,  and supporting repairs and alterations to extend the life of outdoor apparel and clothing.

“By joining 1% For The Planet and pledging one percent of our annual sales to non-profit organizations supporting environmental protections, as well as offsetting 135 metric tons of CO2 through the purchase of carbon credits attributed to wind farms, forest protections and recycling efforts to become climate neutral certified we are putting actual dollars towards these organizations that do the work to support a future of enjoying a healthy outdoor and active life on this planet,” Loofbourrow said.
