Adidas Five Ten, Fred Nicole Team up to Create Aleon Bouldering Shoe

Bouldering legend Fred Nicole is back in the spotlight again — this time, in the retail space.

Nicole has teamed up with Adidas Five Ten to create the Aleon, a specially-designed bouldering shoe that makes use of Primeknit technology for a model that is breathable, stretchable and form-fitting. The Aleon sports a microfiber upper layer, is lightweight at just 7.5-ounces and is designed for power and precision when toeing small holds on large overhangs.

As Gearjunkie explained, this shoe is more than just a “special edition” model. Nicole approached Five Ten with a few different ideas he had been tinkering with, one of which turned into the Aleon. So there is a lot of excitement in the climbing community about this product.

Nicole, it should be noted, will have a hand in every climbing shoe released by Five Ten in 2019.

This product will be available for retail starting in February, 2019 and will cost $190. In the meantime, you can catch the Five Ten team and the Aleon at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver.
