Pelican Product has appointed Bob Shortt as president of its newly structured Consumer Division. The newly established Consumer unit will focus on the Pelican ProGear product line as well as traditional cases and lighting products for the consumer electronic devices, sporting goods, photography and dive markets.
Shortt brings more than 30 years of sales, product management and marketing experience to his new position. Prior to joining Pelican, he oversaw the entry into the tablet case market for Targus Incorporated and managed its exclusive global supply relationship with Dell. His career has also seen him working with industry leading companies that include Black & Decker (Kwikset and Price Pfister divisions), CSK Auto (Kragen, Checkers and Shucks brands) and Waterpik Technologies. Shortt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley. In his new role, Shortt will oversee all aspects of Pelican’s Consumer Division with a heavy emphasis on sales, marketing and business development.
“As President of our newly formed Consumer Division, Bob’s industry insight, consumer experience and knowledge of customer needs will look to grow and expand on our already well-received lines of mobile electronics protection, luggage, coolers and lighting products,” said Lyndon Faulkner, President and CEO, Pelican Products.
Along with the hiring of Shortt, Pelican has formed the company into three three distinct business units. Along with the aforementioned Consumer division, that will include Traditional Commercial (Industrial, Fire Safety, Law Enforcement) and Government division, and a BioThermal division focused on temperature controlled transportation products and services.
