Worldwide Buying Group Closes Successful Show

Worldwide Buying Group completed its Spring Show in Reno, Nev., with more than 250 member stores in attendance and eight prospective members, said the national member-owned buying cooperative for independent retailers. Worldwide also used to show to hand out some iron and name a few new board members.

“The exhibitors were very pleased with strong and steady booth traffic and many had record sales,” said Worldwide executives.

2015 awards were given out at the show to recipients continuing a tradition of recognizing those “who contribute to the fabric of the organization.”

 Member of the Year – Smith & Edwards Company in Ogden, Utah – member since 1976

 Hardlines Vendor of the Year – Westin Brands

 Hardlines Customer Service Award – Jim Schleiter, National Sales Manager – Stack-On Products

 Softlines Vendor of the Year – Kinco Glove Company

 Softlines Customer Service Award – Mindy Dworkin – B & B Sweater Mills

Also, the following new board members were elected during the shareholder meeting at the Spring Show to serve a three-year term on the Worldwide Board of Directors:

 Richard Sprague of Sprague’s Sports Inc. in Yuma, Arizona

 Diane Abramson of Work Sports & Outdoors in Enumclaw, Washington

 Bob Shuman of Rasenicks Mens Wear in Chicago, Illinois

Worldwide also announced its show dates for the 2016 Fall Show as Aug. 28-Sept. 1, 2016 at the Reno Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.
