The Running Event (TRE), North America’s premier run and outdoor specialty retail conference and trade show, announced a collaboration with The Magic Boost, a professional development program for young content creators who are passionate about running. This partnership will connect emerging storytellers – or “Boosters” – with TRE’s community of brands, retailers, nonprofit partners and other industry organizations. Creators will attend and cover TRE 2024 as media professionals, broadening their exposure and experience while bringing fresh perspectives to running as both a sport and industry.
Since its 2021 founding, The Magic Boost has transformed the track and field media landscape by supporting young, diverse, and innovative voices. Through this new partnership with TRE, Boosters will have an unprecedented opportunity to create impactful content that highlights TRE’s wide-ranging contributions to the running industry and expand the sport’s reach to new audiences on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
“Partnerships are vital to the success and professional growth of the Boosters,” said Keith Peters, The Magic Boost board member. “This collaboration with TRE is a tremendous new opportunity for our Boosters to gain insight into a different side of the running industry, beyond track and field events. By exploring many of the compelling stories surrounding TRE, they’re making invaluable connections that will fuel their careers.”
The partnership proudly supports three outstanding Magic Boosters:
- Olu Olamigoke, a 2016 Olympic triple jumper from Nigeria who mentors athletes in building successful careers both on and off the track through his work in photography and videography.
- Serenity Douglas, a former NCAA All-American and 2X Big 12 champion who brings her expertise to sideline reporting and commentary.
- Taylor Mascetta, a former distance runner for Syracuse University and announcer for the Armory Track and Field Center, who draws on her experience from Fordham’s NPR-affiliate radio station to excel in sports broadcasting.
Each of their projects represent the shared mission of TRE and The Magic Boost to elevate diverse voices and create a more inclusive narrative in the running world.
“This is the type of collaboration that truly gets us excited – one that can really make an impact, a difference, in the running industry and community,” said Christina Henderson, TRE’s Director. “Our partnership with The Magic Boost is an opportunity to create stories and content that reflect the diversity and passion in our space. As the running industry grows, it’s more important than ever to champion these voices, as they’re shaping the industry’s future and inspiring more and more people to connect with the sport.”
The Running Event 2024 will be held November 19-21 at the Austin Convention Center.
