Trail Racing Over Texas to Resume In-Person Race in October

Trail Racing Over Texas (TROT), announced its return to in-person racing this Fall with The Remix on Oct. 10. A full slate of Fall races in Texas will also be open for registration, albeit with a strict participant cap to ensure participant, volunteer and staff safety.

“We have worked very hard to create a scenario where we could return to in-person racing and we are beyond excited to put on races again,” said Rob Goyen, race director of TROT. “Our primary concern has—and always will be—the safety of our running community, our amazing volunteers, and our hard-working staff, and as such, we’ve instituted new polices to keep everyone safe while we resume in-person racing in the age of COVID-19.”

In order to provide a safe race experience, TROT has developed a new COVID policy that all participants, volunteers, and staff must adhere to. This policy includes, contact-less packet pickup, “Mask On” zones at the start/finish line, aid stations, and bag drop areas, wave starts, single-serve nutrition at aid stations, and more.

The full policy can be read here.

“We feel that our new policy for in-person events is our best thinking on how to best protect the running community at our Fall events,” says Chris Douglas, Systems and Operations Director at TROT. “This policy balances the reality of putting on a race while following the guidelines from the CDC and Texas State and County rules.”

For runners that don’t feel comfortable returning to in-person racing, TROT created the Fall Virtual Series. Piggybacking on the success of the Summer Virtual Series, this series consists of five events from August through December 2020. These events come with all the swag that participants have come to expect from TROT plus special bonus buckles and medal for runners that complete all five events.
