Sustainable Down Source Sponsors Parks4Kids

For the second year in a row, Sustainable Down Source has sponsored Parks4Kids, presented by Outdoor Foundation and Outdoor Industry Association, which helps to connect kids with the outdoors by encouraging exploration, appreciation and understanding of natural environments and resources. The sponsorship with Parks4Kids also helps to provide micro grants to teachers, schools and nonprofits. This year, SDS’s financial contribution supports home town Cincinnati school Colerain Elementary.

This year’s event included a program led by park rangers where children “found” fossils and were taught about human impact on the planet. The kids were also led on a trail hike. For some of the children, this was their first hike in a forest.

Caroline Zapf, Chief Sustainability Officer at SDS says, “As a leader in the outdoor industry, it is our responsibility to teach these kids – our world’s future leaders – the importance of sustainability and environmental accountability. By exploring nature, they will understand how delicate and important it is, and why we need to preserve it.”

As a leader in sustainable feather and down supply, SDS is forging the way for environmentally and socially viable insulation in both the fashion and outdoors space, along with their emphasis on giving back to communities in need.
