Südwolle Group Expands Sustainable Wool Processing

Südwolle Group, a spinner of pure wool and wool blend worsted yarns for weaving, circular and flat knitting, has expanded it’s offering by launching a new technology for treating wool fibers. The Naturetexx Plasma-wool treatment is an environmentally sustainable alternative to the current industry standard superwash, chlorine-hercosett process, said the company. In addition to securing the GOTS and Okeo-Tex certifications, Naturetexx has now been awarded the bluesign certification as well.

“After receiving the GOLD Award at Outdoor in July 2015 for our Naturetexx Plasma treatment, Südwolle Group is working with brands and manufacturers to help meet industry sustainability objectives and offer environmentally conscious products. The process uses electricity and air instead of chlorine. It is an environmental leap forward and sets a new standard for wool processing that allows us to meet the strict requirements for bluesign, GOTS and IVN best certifications,” says Hans-Georg von Schuh, Director Sales and Marketing for the Group.

In addition to the technical expansions, Südwolle Group announced in October 2015 the increase in its capacity and diversification of its product ranges by acquiring the SAFIL and GTI Italian yarn manufacturers in an effort to leverage expanded global reach and further growth.

With these complementary acquisitions, Südwolle Group enhances its product range and capability to address client needs in customized, fashion, luxury as well as non-apparel segments. Furthermore, the Group will increase its footprint in the European and Italian yarn markets. With the global reach and the financial strength of Südwolle Group as a reliable industry partner, both SAFIL and GTI will be able to enter their next phase of growth, expanding within and beyond Europe.

Von Schuh continues; “Suedwolle Group continues to find ways to grow its sales, technology and product portfolios, this time through the acquisition of SAFIL and GTI. Incorporating the SAFIL and GTI ranges bring high-quality wool yarns and years of market and technical expertise to the Südwolle Group. We’re excited about the possibilities this acquisition brings.”

With additional production capability in Europe and a continued commitment to sustainability and corporate stewardship, Südwolle Group is well invested for both growth and flexibility to meet market demands for the long term.
