Smith Launches Recycled Post-Consumer Collection

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Smith unveiled its new CORE Collection of eyewear made from post-consumer water bottles. Launching the series is the debut of the Lowdown 2 CORE, with the familiar styling and features of Smith’s top selling frame and enhanced with a recycled approach to maintain a continued consciousness towards sustainable manufacturing.
Each Lowdown 2 CORE frame is made entirely from five recycled plastic bottles – aside from the stainless steel barrel hinges – with polarized lenses made from Smith’s castor-oil based Evolve material. The durable and lightweight frame features embossed logo detailing eliminating the use of adhesives. Each pair comes with a microfiber bag also made from recycled plastic bottles, and boxed in 100% recycled packaging. The Lowdown 2 CORE sunglass (MSRP $129) is available on smithoptics.com beginning April 22, 2020, and at select specialty retailers soon.
Popular Smith styles, including the Eastbank and Shoutout frame designs, will launch with environmental considerations among the CORE Collection in August 2020.
