Boulder, Colo.-based women’s athletic brand Skirt Sports, is seeking new ownership. The company is working with Bell Lap Advisors, a boutique M&A advisory firm for the outdoor and active lifestyle industries, as its consider options for moving the brand forward under the new ownership.

Skirt Sport was created in 2004 by professional triathlete, Nicole DeBoom, who was credited with launching a new category: running and fitness skirts. It has grown from a single style to a fully merchandised, multi-category brand selling into a variety of channels

After 15 years of building the business, Skirt Sports is ready for new ownership, a move that has been accelerated due to the COVID-19 economic impact that is already occurring. “With the uncertainties that surround the COVID-19 pandemic, our best chance for future success is to identify a synergistic partner that can utilize our strengths,” said DeBoom, “The ideal fit is a business that appreciates the powerful community we have created and wants to carry the brand forward.”

Russell Cree, Managing Partner at Bell Lap Advisors, stated, “This business represents a unique opportunity to participate in the large and growing activewear market, with a heritage brand, with a cult-like following, and iconic signature product.”
