Sierra Trading Boosts Brick and Mortar Strategy

Sierra Trading Post expects to more than double store openings in the current fiscal year by opening five new retail locations, according to financial documents filed on behalf of the retailer by The TJX Companies Inc. Tuesday.

According to TJX, Sierra Trading Post will operate 13 brick-and-mortar stores by the end of the current fiscal year, which ends January 28, 2017, up from eight at the end of fiscal 2016. When it was acquired by TJX in 2012, Sierra Trading Post operated just two bricks-and-mortar locations in its home state of Wyoming and earned the majority of its sales online.

The retailer added two retail locations in fiscal 2013, two in fiscal 2015 and two in fiscal 2016 and now operates three stores in Colorado, two in Wyoming and one each in Idaho, Nevada, and Vermont.

TJX does not disclose Sierra Trading Post’s sales.
