Sierra Designs Unveils U.S.-Made Collection

Sierra Designs announced a new program that brings manufacturing home. The California Collection is a return to Sierra Designs’ roots that emphasizes local and eco-friendly production, said the company.

Launching in August 2018, the entire California Collection line of daypacks and apparel will be designed and constructed in the Los Angeles area. “The commitment to domestic manufacturing ensures that Sierra Designs is strengthening the local economy by providing jobs, while also reducing its carbon footprint,” said SD. Following up on a move to eliminate harmful PFCs from all 2018 sleeping bags, all the new packs and several of the apparel pieces will be designed with bluesign approved fabrics, further illustrating the brand’s commitment to ecologically-responsible production.

“We recently embarked on a brand archive project to document and learn from our 53-year history at Sierra Designs,” says Sierra Designs VP/GM George Bryant. ”In that exercise, the company’s beginnings as a California-based manufacturer of outdoor gear fostered a somewhat audacious idea – could we pull that off again and follow in those footsteps as the latest stewards of this iconic outdoor brand? As a new team it felt like we could. I’m proud to share this collection and add another chapter to our great story.”

Leading off the collection are four new packs that offer multi-use functionality in a variety of capacities. Each piece is designed to meet a range of needs for active outdoor users, offering a seamless transition from trail to town without sacrificing performance and comfort. The feature-rich collection includes a 20L sport pack, 25L day pack, 30L travel pack and 50L duffle bag that doubles as a backpack. With prices ranging from $119.95-$149.95, these packs have you covered from a quick day hike to your daily commute to a weekend away.

The California Collection apparel line features head-to-toe options for the active outdoor user. These pieces make outdoor pursuits more comfortable with performance-enhancing features such as UV protection, built-in mesh panels and 4-way stretch. With prices ranging from $50-$80, the line includes short and long sleeve performance shirts, tank tops, leggings and shorts, purpose-built for living an active life full of yoga studios, climbing gyms, trail runs and hikes.

The California Collection will be on display at Summer Outdoor Retailer in Denver.
