The Rails to Trails Conservancy (RTC), which is the U.S.’ largest advocacy organization for trails, walking and biking, is calling on people across the country to get outside this spring to celebrate trails and connected trail networks.
In particular, the group is hosting a Celebrate Trails Day on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Celebrate Trails will comprise hundreds of events, nationwide, to inspire walking and biking. Interviews and visual opportunities will also be available at community-based events, including runs, rides, cleanups, festivals and more in dozens of major metro areas.
In preparation for Celebrate Trails Day, RTC is teaming up with partners and experts nationwide to share ideas, motivation and insight for getting out on the trail. These events will offer expert sources and quotes for media. Event recordings will be available on RTC’s website, including the latest on community building and advocacy with REI Co-op and Latino Outdoors, as well as inclusive opportunities for physical activity with Special Olympics and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“There is unmatched potential in trail networks to make walking and biking part of our everyday lives, unlocking all of the good that happens when we are active outside, in the places where we live,” said Brandi Horton, RTC’s VP of communications. “That’s why RTC is uniting everyone in a common appreciation for trails—and the impact of connecting trails in our communities. Our time on the trail is so much more than a day outside.”
