British outdoor brand Rab, which is owned by Equip Outdoor Technologies, established a strategic partnership with U.K.-based aftercare expert, Grangers. This partnership will bring together heritage, expertise and a mutual commitment to a strong environmental agenda.
Launching for Autumn/Winter 2025, the collaboration will introduces Grangers Down Defend, an innovative down treatment that redefines down performance in the harshest conditions.

The bluesign-approved Grangers Down Defend is the result of a rigorous three-year development and testing process conducted jointly by the two partners. It offers an at-source treatment made to clean and enhance the hydrophobic properties of down, thus maximizing warmth, comfort, protection and longevity.
Down Defend performance highlights include:
- Exceeds 2,000 shake-test minutes for recycled down, and 15,000 shake-test minutes for virgin down.
- Long-lasting effectiveness, maintaining insulation performance through up to 40 washes.
- Bluesign-approved and PFAS-free.
Grangers’ Down Defend will feature in Rab’s Autumn/Winter 2025 hydrophobic down styles. As part of this partnership, Rab will also streamline its aftermarket service center treatment offerings for both insulation and shell wash. This ensures that Rab customers can trust their gear to maintain peak performance in the harshest conditions throughout its whole life.
