Polartec, EMS Partner to Showcase Recycled Materials

Polartec and Eastern Mountain Sports hosted an immersive educational experience aimed at educating consumers about cutting-edge technical garments composed of recycled fabrics. Dubbed the Harvard Square takeover, the event took place place September 26-27, in conjunction with EMS store located on 1 Brattle Square in Cambridge, Mass.

“We want consumers to examine the ingredients in their clothing with as much scrutiny as they do the ingredients in their food,” said Polartec CEO Gary Smith, leading up to the event. “The Harvard Square takeover will showcase amazing garments made with recycled fabrics alongside fun activities for a family-friendly adventure.”

Polartec uses REPREVE yarn from Unifi Inc. in almost all of its fabric platforms including Polartec Power Shield, Power Dry, Power Wool, Power Grid and Alpha. People visiting the Cambridge Eastern Mountain Sports store could also check out Polartec’s sidewalk chalk art, receive free gifts made from recycled materials and even see how many plastic bottles it takes to create a garment. Recycled garments were clearly marked and Eastern Mountain Sports offered $15 off any in-store purchase of $75 or more.
