Petzl to Build New NA Headquarters in Utah

Petzl announced it will construct a new 80,000-square-foot facility in West Valley City, in the heart of Utah’s Salt Lake Valley. Petzl estimates it will invest more than $20 million dollars in its new North American headquarters.

Petzl America, Petzl’s North American sales, marketing and distribution hub, has tapped AJC Architects and Sahara Construction, Salt Lake City-based firms with extensive experience working on sustainable projects, to design and build a LEED-certified building comprised of 24,000 square feet for office space, a 40,000-square-foot warehouse, and a 15,000-square-foot training area. The state-of-the-art training facility will contain a 60-foot high indoor climbing structure for product testing and training climbers and rope-access professionals. Work/life-friendly aspects of the new building will include a bicycle storage and maintenance room, employee climbing wall, and a workout facility, among other things.

“We’re thrilled to be moving our headquarters to West Valley City, just 10 minutes from the airport and surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and entertainment. This area has already attracted several major players in Utah’s growing outdoor industry,” said Nazz Kurth, President of Petzl America. “Located within walking distance of the TRAX line, this move will offer employees and guests easy access to downtown. Such a central location is especially important now that our new training facilities will be drawing a steady stream of visitors from all over North and South America.”

“The Salt Lake Valley provides the ideal location for Petzl’s North American Headquarters,” remarked Paul Petzl, President and Founder of the Petzl Group. “In addition to the excellent business environment found in Utah, we greatly appreciate the quality of life and recreational opportunities that allow us to attract and maintain such a high quality staff. The facility itself will be architecturally and technologically innovative and designed to accommodate continued growth. As such, it is a physical representation of the Petzl vision for the future.”

Petzl America plans to move from its current location in Clearfield, Utah, which it has occupied for more than 14 years, to the new facility in early 2014.
