Paddling Film Festival Returns to Connecticut

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) is co-hosting Rapid Media’s Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour 2013 in Collinsville, Conn., with Collinsville Canoe & Kayak on Friday, May 24 at the Canton Town Hall. The film festival showcases the best paddling films from around the world.

Proceeds from the event support the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. This will be the only showing of the Reel Paddling Film Festival in Connecticut.

The Reel Paddling Film Festival is in its eighth year and features award winning films in 10 categories. The festival inspires people to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle, and appreciate the heritage of wild places.

This year, Lincoln Canoe & Kayak, maker of handcrafted canoes and kayaks in Freeport, Maine and a famous boat builder in the Northeast, is partnering with NFCT to raffle a light-weight and versatile 2013 Chebeague kayak to be prized at the conclusion of the nonprofit’s nine-screening series. All attendees at the show will have an opportunity to enter a free raffle to win the boat.

Located on Connecticut’s Farmington River, Collinsville Canoe & Kayak is a family owned business that offers canoe, kayak and SUP rentals and guided trips, as well as paddling lessons and kids’ programs. Before the film festival, stop by their retail shop located at 41 Bridge St., Rte. 179 in Collinsville, Conn.

The May 24 screening starts at 7pm at the Canton Town Hall Auditorium, 4 Market St. in Collinsville, Conn.
