Ortovox Names Brand Manager for Mountainwear Launch

Orotvox announces the promotion of Tom Mason to Brand Manager for the United States. The promotion coincides with the introduction of the company’s Mountainwear, a full line of apparel, gear and accessories now available to U.S. retailers.

The Mountainwear collection is designed and built to perform in the mountains from crag climbing to alpine ascents, backcountry tours to resort powder days. From the beginning, Ortovox has put its trust in wool and integrates wool into every piece of Mountainwear including accessories, baselayers, mid-weight insulation pieces, technical outerwear and even packs.

In his new position, Mason is responsible for developing Ortovox’s presence at specialty retailers across the country and raising awareness for the performance apparel line designed specifically for climbers, skiers and mountaineers.

“Ortovox Mountainwear is a unique technical apparel line that will earn a great reputation in the U.S. market as it has in Europe.” explains Mason. “The designs and materials are truly innovative with a tremendous amount of thought, research and development going into each piece, which ultimately enhances the performance for the end-user.”

Mason cut his teeth in the outdoor industry on the sales floor at Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, Colo. He worked there for nine years in multiple capacities, including sales, management and as a buyer. He was subsequently hired at Bent Gate Mountaineering in Golden, as the ski shop manager. In the summer of 2012, he joined Deuter USA, the U.S. distributor of Ortovox, as Direct Sales Manager and in-house Ortovox technical expert.
