Nester Hosiery, a leading US manufacturer of performance merino wool socks and home to the Farm to Feet brand, has promoted Katie Kumerow to Director of Sustainability. For the past four years, Kumerow has been developing and driving sustainability programs for Nester Hosiery as the Sustainability Manager.
“We have a strong commitment to sustainability and continually aim to make improvements,” said Kelly Nester, Nester Hosiery CEO. “While we have certainly made large strides, there is much more to be done and under Katie’s leadership we will continue to meet and exceed our goals.”
Kumerow oversaw Nester Hosiery becoming the only bluesign System Partner sock manufacturer in North America and managed the company’s engagement with the HIGG sustainability reporting index.
As Director of Sustainability Kumerow will join the company’s leadership team and will be responsible for the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, overseeing supply chain compliance, government affairs, stewardship, and outdoor advocacy. She will also continue to be a part of the manufacturing supervisory team.
“With the climate challenges facing our world sustainability is a critical issue,” said Kumerow. “There is always something we can do to improve our processes and material choices, reduce our waste, and act more responsibly.”
Kumerow recently joined OIA and a number of outdoor industry leaders in Washington D.C. to discuss with Congress how the tariffs have affected Nester Hosiery and the industry as a whole.
