Montane, a performance clothing and equipment brand, launched its new PETRICHOR TECHNOLOGY. This 100 percent waterproof, three-layer fabric sets the standard for PFAS-free protection for high-output activities outside, extending ‘Ultimate breathability, guaranteed shelter.’
Developed by the textile experts at Montane using advanced construction techniques, PETRICHOR TECHNOLOGY will debut as part of the AW24 collection in its Cetus Lite and Torren jackets, which are optimized for moving fast and light in the mountains.
The technology provides:
- Breathable performance with three-layer construction
- A windproof, non-porous hydrophilic membrane that transports water vapor and moisture away from the body
- A 100 percent recycled nylon 21D ripstop face fabric
- A durable Tricot lining.
The result is a fabric that manages the microclimate of the wearer to work harder in extreme conditions while delivering unrestricted freedom of movement.
Every aspect of PETRICHOR’S lightweight construction has been considered to reduce its environmental impact with the design team selecting recycled materials, a PFAS-free membrane and PFC-free DWR. Montane’s new Cetus Lite and Torren jackets, which use PETRICHOR, embody the timeless design principles of Montane.
“Our inspiration for this new technology is rooted in the outdoor spaces where we test our products as well as the commitment that we have to reduce our environmental impact,” said Montane marketing director, Matthew Hickman. “We are inherently connected to life outside and this has even filtered through to the choice of the name ‘Petrichor’ which references the evocative smell that rises from the ground after the first drops of rain fall. At a time of change in the industry, there is a need for a PFAS-free, breathable, lightweight, waterproof fabric. PETRICHOR TECHNOLOGY answers this need.”
PETRICHOR TECHNOLOGY will be available to consumers as part of the new collection. The Cetus Lite jacket will be available for purchase Aug. 6 at montane.com and select retailers, while the Torren jacket will follow later in the month.
