Millet Expands the Expedition Project to U.S.

For the last six years, Millet and their project partners have helped bring to life dream expeditions for adventurers via the Millet Expedition Project. Now for the seventh year, the project is expanding to the U.S.

The Millet Expedition Project encourages outdoor enthusiasts to submit proposals for their dream, once-in-a-lifetime expeditions, to be granted support by Millet and partners. A panel of U.S. judges will select the most compelling entries to be included in the global competition, where final winners will be selected by votes on Facebook. Final winners will be supported with equipment needs, financial assistance, training, guiding, and expedition documentation from beginning to end.

Over the years, the Millet Expedition Project has supported about 70 expeditions, with more than 300 individual prize-winners who have traveled through more than 40 countries, practicing around 30 different disciplines, including skiing, canoeing, hiking, climbing, diving, and paragliding.  Because there are no limits or parameters as to what defines “expedition” this mission has had broad appeal, as winners have gone on everything from human aid missions, to extreme outdoor adventures and exploration of remote areas of the world.

“Every year, we receive several hundred applications from candidates ready for adventures and already some have been from Poland, Croatia, England, Germany…” says Patrice Folliet, coordinator of the event, and the creator of the project. “The adventure grant is now being promoted internationally with the extension of the concept in English and German to facilitate the various steps of the project.”
