Millet, Chamonix Mountain Guides Expand Partnership

Millet was chosen in 2009 by the Chamonix Guides Company to equip its 250 mountain guides and leaders. They have all since adopted the brand’s mountain jackets and pants, and its technical backpacks such as the 30-litre Prolighter. This year, Millet is expanding its partnership with the guides to include essential mountain-sports products such as ropes and footwear.

Starting this summer, the members of the Chamonix Guides Company will be equipped with the Super Trident, a modern Alpine approach boot. And from 15 August – the date of their Guides’ Festival – their kit set will be supplemented by the new triple-rated Absolute TRX rope.

In 2013, Millet set up a panel of selected testers with the Guides Company to strengthen its product testing program, and 20 volunteer guides and leaders helped to develop all the new spring/summer 2015 products.

“We wanted to involve them in our research so we could develop our equipment even further. They contributed at every stage – from prototype to finished article,” explains Frédéric Ducruet, Millet’s Managing Director.

“Three hundred days a year, their office is Mont Blanc,” continues Ducruet. “Like us, they seek functionality, efficiency, longevity, reliability and comfort. Indeed, we are particularly proud that this year they have chosen the Absolute TRX – a true recognition of Millet’s technological innovation through the Triaxiale construction.”

“A rope is an even more sensitive product because it stands for safety. It’s a life line to our client, with whom we develop a special bond,” says David Ravanel, President of the Chamonix Guides Company.
