McCoy Exits CamelBak

CamelBak CEO Sally McCoy has stepped down after nine years in her role. In turn, Vista Outdoor Chairman and CEO Mark DeYoung named Layne Rigney President, CamelBak, effective February 1, 2016.

Rigney is a 10-year veteran of CamelBak, serving as Senior Vice President of Global Sales since 2012, and brings 25 years of industry experience with brands such as PowerBar/Nestle USA, RockShox and REI.

“I have tremendous faith in Layne’s ability and readiness to lead the organization,” said McCoy. “CamelBak has a robust product pipeline, a respected brand identity and an incredibly strong team of leaders to take the business to the next level under the ownership of Vista Outdoor.”

“Layne is a proven and respected leader at CamelBak and I look forward to the growth of the brand and global business under his leadership. I also appreciate the leadership Sally brought to CamelBak and her support of Vista Outdoor.” said DeYoung.

Other staffing changes effective February 1, include Michael Moore as Vice President of Sales, North & South America. Moore has served as a sales executive since 2006, and brings experience from Thule, Leisure Trends and Planet Outdoors. Andrew Shand is promoted to Vice President of Sales, Europe/Asia/Africa after a six-year tenure as European Sales Director for both CamelBak military and recreation businesses. Shannon Stearns is promoted to Vice President of Marketing and will lead the company’s brand and marketing initiatives globally. Stearns joined CamelBak in 2006, bringing consumer and retail marketing experience at brands and retailers such as Smith & Hawken and Illuminations and advertising agency Foote, Cone & Belding supporting brands like Clorox, Levi’s and Disney. These newly promoted vice presidents join the existing senior leadership team which has been in place since 2007.
