Icebug, the Swedish footwear brand that rebooted its U.S. operations in 2013, has selected Rock Gear Distribution as its Canadian distributor. Rock Gear Distribution (RGD) focuses on premium accessories for active people and stocks hundreds of dealers across Canada with a mix of outdoor, running, cycling and other sporting goods.
Icebug, which was founded in 2001, makes running, walking and casual footwear equipped with dynamic carbide tip studs (BUGrip technology) and RB9X, a proprietary rubber compound developed for traction in wet conditions. The company is launching a line of safety shoes for the industrial market this fall.
“Icebug has been widely used by postmen in Quebec to reduce slipping accidents,” said Tom Nilsson, vice president and export sales manager at Icebug. “So we know that the problem is there and that we have the best solution.
RGD is in the process of presenting Icebug to 100s of key running, outdoor and footwear dealers in Canada, said its president, Ian Lowe-Wylde.
“Although we got started a bit late, Icebug is quickly being added to assortments for FW14 and Icebug will definitely have good visibility for this fall/winter with a focus on nationwide presence in FW15,” said Lowe-Wylde.
