GSI Outdoors Names Korean Distributor

Continuing its market expansion throughout Asia, GSI Outdoors has just signed a distribution agreement with Nelson Sports in South Korea, according to Don Scott, co-owner of GSI Outdoors. Effective immediately, the new distributor will sell, market and support GSI Outdoors’ products with the goal of increasing demand and sales in the booming South Korean outdoor market.

Nelson Sports has been in business since 1998 and is based near Seoul. Its portfolio of 13 brands includes such outdoor companies such as Arcteryx and Scarpa while its sales channels include 50 dealers in addition to 18 department stores.

“This alliance represents a blueprint for success in the next few defining years of our Asian expansion plan,” commented Scott. “Nelson Sports, Inc. is well established and recognized as an industry leader in South Korea and has just the right sales distribution for our products. We look forward to helping them grow our business in this very sought-after market.”

The Outdoor Industries Association in the UK reported earlier this year that South Korea has a very fast growing market for outdoor products due to a growing economy, strong buying power and a high demand for international outdoor brands.

GSI Outdoors currently has agreements with 29 distributors that sell into a total of 41 countries located throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America, Australia and Africa.
