W.L. Gore & Associates, inventor of GORE-TEX, announced its sponsorship of the 2014 GORE-TEX Wasatch Ski Mountaineering Race. For the first time as part of the Outdoor Retailer show, the race will be hosted by the GORE-TEX brand, US Ski Mountaineering Association (USSMA) and Utah Ski Mountaineering during the All Mountain Demo on January 21, at Solitude Mountain Resort. The race will support the USSMA and is open to anyone over 18 and any ability level
“Our support for SkiMo racing goes back several years. As the sport is growing in popularity, we worked together with OR, USSMA and the Utah SkiMo teams to bring the event to the All Mountain Demo so that more of our outdoor community could experience it first hand,” said Tom Boyle, Gore Strategic Marketing. “We’re looking forward to a fun race experience that will raise funds and awareness for the USSMA.”
The race will begin at 2:00 pm at the base of the Moonbeam Parking Lot at Solitude and will feature short and long course options, as well as race or recreation categories. Registration is currently open on the events page at www.ussma.org
