Geartrade, an online resale platform for used outdoor equipment and apparel, unveiled its redesigned website, which is designed to smooth the customer experience and make easier the process of selling and buying gear.
The site redesign coincides with the completion of the long-term phase out of its peer-to-peer marketplace, marking a shift that should allow it to fully focus on its consignment business for brand resale partners and individuals alike.
“We care deeply about the experience of buying and selling outdoor gear, and want it to be a positive and easy thing for everyone,” said Geartrade president, Aaron Provine. “Whether you’re looking to sell a couple pairs of skis or an entire showroom full of sales samples, our new web platform makes the experience smoother, faster and more intuitive for everyone.”
Geartrade noted that its held consignment operations have experienced 115 percent sales growth in the last 18 months.
To support this growth while fueling expansion, Geartrade also announced the expansion of its Salt Lake City warehouse capacity, purchases of ski and snowboard tuning machinery and the integration of AI-supported tools for its consignment business.
“Product circularity is a priority for brands, and increasingly important to everyday users as well,” continued Provine. “There is a rising awareness everywhere of the importance of re-use, and that recognition centers around the idea that the easiest and best way to lower the carbon footprint of any given product is to keep it in use as long as possible – which is exactly the service that Geartrade provides.”
Geartrade’s individual consignment service launched in 2021, offering an ‘easy button’ for sellers of used gear. Services include free shipping and an in-house concierge option that receives, evaluates, photographs and posts products on behalf of the seller.
Geartrade Branded Resale launched in 2022, offering a custom, circularity-focused re-commerce option for outdoor industry companies. Geartrade Branded Resale integrates trade-in and resale programs into a brand’s existing sales universe.
