ENO Unveils Hammock Fan iPhone App

Updated from the original ENOpia mobile app released in 2012, ENOpia v2.0 is a mobile tracking application that allows hammock lovers all across the globe to record and share their adventures and favorite outdoors spots. It utilizes Apple Maps and GPS technology, locating users automatically to streamline their experience and explore unchartered areas of relaxation,’ says the company.

With the ability to store an image collection and roam the ‘ENOpia’ map, the App breaks the mold for the 14-year-old company who has until recently only made physical outdoor products.

“We’ve noticed the counter culture behind the hammock lifestyle and the stoke for the hammocking community and we wanted to create a platform for it to develop further,” said Peter Pinholster, president and co-owner of ENO. “Hammocking has turned global and we want to help connect everybody.”

Users are encouraged to explore the new, full color map, pinning their own hammock images, ‘liking’ other’s suggestions and discovering outdoors spots using the integrated GPS coordinates stored with every image. V2.0 also features a new ‘timeline’ component – an Instagram-esque stream of the other’s pins – and an area to create a personal hammocking diary, storing uploaded photos in a private timeline.

In addition, the latest version gives users the ability to portably locate an authorized ENO retailer while on the go. By supplying their current zip code, retailers can be located up to 500 miles away and are displayed as pins on the ENOpia map. Users can then click on individual retailers to obtain directions and contact details.

“We want to continue to build our community and link up as many of our retailers with new customers as possible,” said Pinholster. “Hopefully ENOpia makes it just that little bit easier.”

Compatible with all Apple products, the app requires iOS 5.1 or later and is free. Version 3.0 is already in development with an expected completion date of July 2014.
