Elemental Herbs Implores Local Companies to Use Business as a‘Force for Good’

Elemental Herbs, a Morro Bay, Calif.-based manufacturer of organic personal care products, recently hosted a free luncheon in San Luis Obispo to educate local businesses about becoming a B Corporation (B Corp) – a company certified to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. As one of more than 1,000 companies spanning 80 industries in 30 countries that are Certified B Corps, Elemental Herbs is helping lead a global movement that urges businesses to make decisions based on the greater good of society and the environment, in addition to profit.

“As a B Corp, Elemental Herbs is dedicated to increasing the positive impact businesses can have on their local and global communities,” said Caroline Duell, founder and president. “We’re excited to share this rich opportunity with San Luis Obispo County business owners and are energized by their dedicated interest thus far.”

The luncheon, held September 12 at the Ludwick Community Center in San Luis Obispo, attracted a wide range of local business owners, from those in banking and investing to construction, fishing, and consumer packaged goods.

According to Andy Fyfe of B Labs, “B Corps use the power of positive business for social change and a force for good, regardless of the business’s size.”

Added Duell, “This is the direction of the future. It’s not just about being organic and environmentally friendly, but also how you treat your employees and your organization’s commitment to a social mission.”
