Dow Microbial Control has officially joined the Bluesign system, a network of textile companies managed by Swiss-based Bluesign Technologies AG set up to ensure that textile and apparel products, and the chemicals, processes and materials used to make them, are safe for consumers, workers and the environment.
By joining the Bluesign system, Dow seeks to assure textile and apparel manufacturers and brands, and their customers that products treated with Silvadur do not compromise human health or harm the environment. Silvadur was created to inhibit unpleasant odors, decay, and discoloration from occuring in textile fabrics by preventing bacteria from forming or growing in the first place.
McNett Corporation announced May 18 that all　 microfiber towels sold under the McNett Tactical and Outgo brands will now be treated with Silvadur silver antimicrobial ions.
