Conservation Alliance Announces Next Backyard Collective

The Conservation Alliance will hold its fifth Backyard Collective event of 2013 on Friday, July 12 in Seattle. The Conservation Alliance and employees from member companies – Brooks Sports, Moving Comfort, Nikwax, Filson, Patagonia, Teva, Outdoor Research, Cascade Designs, DA Davidson, David Egan Associates, The North Face, and Stanley will partner with Forterra and the Green Seattle Partnership to improve trails, creating a path thorough the West Duwamish Greenbelt.

West Duwamish Greenbelt is the largest greenbelt in the city and is home to fox, red-legged frogs, hawks, and bald eagles. It is also serves an important role in providing urban residents with opportunities for recreation in nature, close to home.

“We look forward to staging a Backyard Collective in Seattle for the fifth straight year,” said Conservation Alliance Executive Director John Sterling. “We’ve got a great group of member companies in Seattle, always ready to get their hands dirty for a good cause.”

The Seattle Backyard Collective takes place Friday, July 12, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. –  1:00 p.m. Volunteers will come together to complete switchbacks, work on trailside restoration, grading and resurfacing trails. The volunteer effort will be followed up by a volunteer fair at which Conservation Alliance grantees and local environmental organizations will share information on their current conservation initiatives and discuss ways for individuals to get involved.

Upcoming Backyard Collective events of 2013 will take place in the following cities: Portland, Ore. (August 21), Boston, Mass. (September 25), and Boulder, Colo. (October 4). This is the fifth year of Backyard Collectives for the Conservation Alliance and its members, grantees and partners.
