Cabela’s announced plans to open a 42,000-square-foot Cabela’s Outpost store in Bowling Green, Ky. The store will be Cabela’s second in Kentucky – joining the Louisville location – and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014. It will be located at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Ken Bale Boulevard near a Sam’s Club.
Cabela’s Outpost stores are designed to help the retailer reach smaller markets of less than 250,000 people. The Bowling Green location will feature wildlife displays, a gun counter, indoor archery range, archery tech room and hand-painted murals, as well as a core-flex layout featuring digital signage and seasonal product assortments. Cabela’s expects to hire about 90 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to run the location.
“The passion Kentuckians have for outdoor recreation combined with the success of our Louisville store makes Bowling Green a great fit for Cabela’s,” said Tommy Millner, Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited to serve our thousands of loyal customers across the western part of the state and look forward to opening the doors.”
Currently, Cabela’s operates 50 stores across North America with plans to open an additional 19 over the next two years.
